BARBARA M. PIZZOLATO
was first admitted to practice law in 1987. In July of 1994, she opened her
own practice in Dix Hills, New York after practicing in Manhattan from 1987
to 1993 and then in Melville, New York for a year and a half. She presently
maintains offices in Melville, New York; West Orange, New Jersey and Florida. Although still admitted in the State of Connecticut, she no
longer actively practices in that State.
Ms. Pizzolato received her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School, Night Division, in 1987 and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1982 where she was a member of Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society.
Licensed to practice law in the states of New Jersey (1987), New York (1988), Connecticut (1988) and Florida (2002), Ms. Pizzolato is admitted to practice before the New Jersey Superior and U.S. District Courts (1987), the New York Supreme Court (1988), the U.S. District Court for the Southern (1990) and Eastern Districts (1992) of New York, the Connecticut Superior Court (1988), the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut (1992), the Florida Supreme Court (2002) and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida (2005).
She is a Florida Certified Circuit Court Mediator.

In New York, Ms. Pizzolato was an arbitrator for the Small Claims Part of the New York State Unified Court System from 1998 to 2002; a Matrimonial Fee Dispute Arbitrator for the Suffolk County Unified Court System from 1995 to 2002; an Officer of the Suffolk Academy of Law; Member and Secretary of the Board of Managers of the Pro Bono Foundation of the Suffolk County Bar Association (1993-2002), Chair of the Solo and Small Firm Practitioners’ Committee (1996-1998, 1999-2002); Member of the Suffolk County Bar Association Committees on Fee Disputes, Corporate Law, Tax Committee; Member of the National Association of Female Executives (1993-2001); and First Vice President and Treasurer of Long Island Women’s Network (1996-2001).
Ms. Pizzolato was previously a Member of the Board of Directors of Sarah’s Center, Chairperson of the Citizens' Advisory Committee for the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities of the Town of Huntington; a Member of the Board of Directors of The Long Island Center for Professional and Business Women (1996-1998) as well as Nassau/Suffolk Law Services Committee, Inc.; in addition, she was a former member of the following organizations: Long Island Association (Tax Policy Committee); The Association of the Bar of the City of New York (1988-1994), The Real Estate Board of New York (1990-1993); the Queens County Bar Association (1988-1993); New Jersey State Bar Association; Connecticut State Bar Association; a Major Trustee Investor of the Chamber of Southwest Florida and former Chair of Professional Development for The Business Network of Southwest Florida.
After the events of September 11, 2001, Ms. Pizzolato served on the American Bar Association’s Disaster Relief panel of legal experts offering pro bono assistance to victims of the World Trade Center attacks involving landlord/tenant issues. In addition, after Hurricane Charley, Ms. Pizzolato provided pro bono services to individuals through the Young Lawyers Division Emergency Panel and has volunteered her services again for each upcoming hurricane season.
Ms. Pizzolato presently sits on a panel of attorneys assisting Florida homeowners to negotiate options with their lenders prior to the institution of foreclosure proceedings called FLASH organized through the Florida Bar.
Presently, Ms. Pizzolato is a member of the American Bar Association (Litigation, Law Practice Management and Tax Sections), 1988-2010, New York State Bar Association (1987-1999, 2001-2010); Suffolk County Bar Association (1992-2010), Florida Bar Association (2002-2007), Lee County Bar Association (2002-2010), a Member of the Calusa Inns of Court, (2003-2009), the Golf Committee for AFCAAM and Board of Directors 2009, Rotary South of Fort Myers 2010.
Ms. Pizzolato is the Author of "The Pizzolato Newsletter", a quarterly newsletter which offered clients, colleagues and others updates on current legal issues; the following are Ms. Pizzolato’s published articles: "Limited Liability Companies", One on One, Newsletter of the General Practice Section, Vol. 15, No. 3, page 22-23 [Fall, 1994], N.Y.S.B.A. and "Public and Private Agencies Spur Economic Growth", Real Property Law Section Newsletter, Vol 21, No. 3, pages 21-25 [Summer, 1993], N.Y.S.B.A. Ms. Pizzolato regularly contributed articles concerning landlord/tenant matters to The Suffolk Lawyer, a monthly publication of the Suffolk County Bar Association as well as The Rhodes Real Estate Review and Action Line, a publication of The Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section. In addition, in New York, Ms. Pizzolato was a member of the Suffolk Academy of Law’s Practicum Project Faculty and annually taught landlord/tenant law to attorneys in New York.
